Q: |
The latest version of Windows has been released. Should I upgrade to it?
answer
 |
| A: |
Just because a new version of Windows has been released doesn't mean that you need to upgrade to it. You need to first look at what your current operating system isn't doing for you. If the answer is "nothing", or "nothing I can't live without", then you really don't need to upgrade. If you do discover that you need to upgrade, be aware that the new version may have system requirements that are higher than what your computer currently has. In short, you may need to do a hardware upgrade as well. It is always wise to wait a bit after something new has been released to see if there are any major bugs that are uncovered.

Q: |
Do I need to upgrade my computer?
answer
 |
| A: |
As in upgrading operating systems, you must look at what your current computer isn't doing for you. If it's doing everything that you ask of it, chances are you don't need to upgrade. If you find that you need minor upgrades, such as some more RAM, a bigger hard drive, or a new video card, then I would suggest that you take the upgrade path. If you discover that you need to purchase several components (i.e. CPU, RAM, Motherboard, Chassis, and Video) you may want to consider a new computer purchase instead. Major computer upgrades can sometimes cost as much, or more than, a new computer and you will end up with a very limited warranty.
If you're considering upgrading because your computer is slow, it may simply require some maintenance to get it operating the way you were used to. See the maintenance section above for more information. |
